Unconventional multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter/producer Lee Christian drops scathing solo summer scorcher ‘Fake Fyre’ at the end of May to mark the proposed date for the return of famed fiasco
Fyre Festival (which itself, tellingly failed to materialise!). It’s a summer dance anthem for anyone bored of their summer fun being ruined by people constantly documenting life in pursuit of online fame that gives the social media glitterati a verbal thrashing that would make the harshest stand up comic blush. If it sounds in anyway un-fun, guess again! It’s an upbeat holiday bop with pounding beats, sky-high synths, funky guitars and Lee’s signature stacked harmonies - un-depressed mode or nine inch smiles, maybe? It features Lee’s wife Grace db from The Prohibition Smokers’ Club (appearing at festivals in summer!) providing the high backing vocal. She also filmed the music video while they were honeymooning in Tobago last December and works as a social media professional - sewing a little secret BTS irony into the lining of the track.
The pumping ‘Prodigy-goes-pop’ production comes courtesy of The Filthy Honey, Lee’s ‘Best Man’ and cohort in Boywithatoy - their only track currently available on streaming is the Cameo-esque
The Killer Species, which sits comfortably next to Jarvis Cocker on The Electronic Bible Part 1, a 2000’s compilation made by Ann Shenton of Add N To X and Andy Fraser, the bassist in Free… which actually still sounds, erm, All Right Now!

Anyway, before this gets way off track, now follows a sample lyric…

Well here’s a word to the wise
And all the ignorant too
(All the likes and shares)
It’s time our favoured aesthetic
Did not apply to you (All the bots and spin)

Well if you act like you’re rich
Or maybe you actually are
(Clickbait and headlines)
It’s time you learned not to flaunt
Your fancy jewels, clothes or cars
(Built to suck us in)
Because the people are starving
And just trying to work
(Fakers who coast by)
Trying to build them future
With no time for your twerk
(With nothing left inside)
They’ve got no time for your shameless
attention seeking ways
No time for entitlement or imaginary status
(It’s time you fell out of fashion
And swallowed your pride)
No time for your high flying VIP paradise
Those shallow waters that you swim in
leave souls thirsty and dry
You better move to an island
Cos You’re not welcome on ours
Cos you can’t put a pretty filter on your
Fake empty heart
